Katey understands that some seasons of life are more challenging than others and is there to partner with your child and family during the tougher moments to create positive and sustainable growth for health, happiness, and safety. Katey aims to make counseling approachable and effective for everyone by providing a relaxed atmosphere to explore thoughts and feelings.
Katey began working in behavioral healthcare in 2004 and has practiced in diverse locations in New Jersey, Colorado, Virginia, and now Nebraska. Katey has served clients in residential settings, partial care, in-home, and outpatient settings, and is adept at working within community systems. As a clinician and a parent, Katey understands it "takes a village" to raise a child, and is excited to learn how they can support your family's goals, while honoring your worldview and inherent strengths.
Katey holds a doctoral degree from Old Dominion University in Counselor Education and Supervision, as well as master's and educational specialist degrees in Community Counseling from Rider University. Katey has been a fully licensed counselor since 2015 and is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) in Nebraska. Katey practices from a person-centered and holistic perspective, blending psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, existentialism, play, sand tray, and creative arts interventions.
Areas of specialty include: anxiety, depression, changing family dynamics, behavioral issues, trauma recovery, suicidality across the lifespan, LGBTGEQIAP+ identity development, and adjustment to life transitions.
